Hanna
Free
(Wendy Jo Carlton,
USA, 2009, 88min) Starring Sharon Gless (Queer
as Folk, Cagney & Lacey) in a tremendous
performance, Hannah Free is a feature film
about the lifelong love affair between an
independent spirit and the woman she calls
home. Hannah and Rachel grew up in the same
Midwest town, where traditional gender expectations
eventually challenge their deep love for one
another. Hannah becomes an adventurous, unapologetic
lesbian and Rachel a strong but reserved homemaker.
Weaving between past and present, the story
reveals how the women maintained their love
affair despite a marriage, a world war, infidelity,
and family denial. With So Called Living (Cyra
K. Polizzi, USA, 2009, 5 min) This parody
of the cult 90s series "My So-Called
Life" is a lighthearted look into those
transitional times in adulthood when all the
awkward angst-filled longing of adolescence
comes rushing back
8:00 PM “Champagne and Cookies”

Hollywood
Je t'aime
( Jason Bushman, USA,
2009, 97min) Recently broken up and barely
enduring a dreary winter, gay Parisian Jerome
Beaunez impulsively books a solo Christmas
vacation to Los Angeles. While there he meets
some colorful locals and pursues a dormant
desire to become a movie star - but never
can quite put the past behind him. In this
meditation on love and narcissism across continents,
Jerome goes far in the sun-drenched City of
Angels but ultimately arrives at an old Hollywood
maxim: there’s no place like home. Bright,
funny, honest and utterly charming, Hollywood
je t’aime is a stunning debut for Jason
Bushman. Bushman wrote the lead role for his
friend Eric who had always talked of acting
but worked in an office job in Paris where
Jason spends half the year writing. Eric shines
in his own debut as Jerome. His classic look
and an amusing ease with his own awkwardness
brings to mind Buster Keaton and Marcel Marceau.
Cast includes Chad Allen (Third Man Out/Shock
to the System, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,
Our House).
