Family
(Faith Trimel, USA, 2008, 109 min) (not included
in festival pass) Felicia is a successful
woman living NYC who comes to a turning point
in her life when she finds herself lulling
her lover into a closet due to a surprise
visit from her mom. Felicia realizes the best
way to tackle coming out would be to do so
with her friends. Even though each of her
friends worries about employment and reactions
from other friends and family, the six make
a decision to come out within 30 days. Family
brings together a varied set of NYC lives,
including, in your face, NBA player Kemp.
While Kemp fears the effect of coming out
on future endorsement deals, other characters
such as Tonya feel pressure from siblings.
But, coming out stories are not all pressure
ridden, when Monica comes out to her parents
in a comical burst she soon finds herself
unexpectedly falling in love. Sabrina on the
other hand struggles with internal messages
and her own beliefs. Family shows the importance
of friends as a catalyst to overcome situations.
As each takes control of her life and gains
Pride, will Felicia even stick to her own
plan? Family is another stellar film by Blue
Butterfly Productions a company dedicated
to the positive portrayal of African American
lesbians on film.
Tickets can
only be purchased though the festival web
site or at the festival Information desk in
the Cinema's Sky Room during the festival.
Tickets will
not be sold through the box office for this
event.

College
Boys Live
( George O'Donnell,
USA, 2009, 90 min) (not included in festival
pass) In a quiet Orlando, Florida, suburb
three young men struggle to escape the wreckage
of their pasts and create new lives for themselves.
Their new home is CollegeBoysLive.com, a voyeur
webcam house rigged with 32 cameras, where
their every move is watched by thousands of
paying members. The site’s creator claims
CollegeBoysLive.com is simply about showing
that “it’s okay to be gay.”
But the neighbors insist it’s a pornographic
whorehouse and sue to have them evicted. This
intimate and provocative documentary examines
a complex subculture, but at its heart is
the universal search for family and acceptance.
“The film is truly a train wreck, in
the best possible way. Part Jerry Springer,
part Real World, part Queer as Folk, we watch
the boys of College Boys Live battle not only
the local homeowners society who are trying
to shut them down, but also each other, literally,
with fists.” excerpted from Homonuerotic.com

Redwoods
(David Lewis, USA 2009,
85 minutes)
Set amid the romantic splendor of Northern
California's Russian River, Redwoods tells
the story of an unshakable love. Everett and
Miles have a comfortable, non-passionate relationship.
They are raising Billy, a learning disabled
boy, who takes up much of the loving attention
in their home. When Miles and Billy go off
to visit the grandparents, Everett prepares
to spend some time alone. That is, until Everett
is out in front of his house, and lost writer
Chase stops his car to ask for directions.
There is an instant connection -- and their
eventual romance will set off a course of
events that change their lives forever. Shot
in the gay resort town of Guerneville, Redwoods
is gorgeously romantic and will stick with
you after the final scene flickers. With
On the Bus ( Tracy D. Smith, USA,
2008, 5min) Jeremy fantasizes about his boy
crush on the bus to escape the pressures of
being a gay teen.

M.U.D.
( Men Under Dirt)
(video and dance exhibition, 1hr 10 minutes)
The festival is breaking new ground this year
by presenting its first movement art and film
presentation, M.U.D. (Men Under Dirt), which
integrates the world premiere of the short film
Karpos & Kalamos into a movement art performance.
This film, choreographed and directed by John
Ollom, was created to show a love story between
two men that surpasses death. Based on the ancient
Greek myth of Karpos (Matthew Jon Wagner) and
Kalamos (John Ollom), this beautiful story once
revered in ancient Greek society as a story
of love and devotion has been all but ignored
in many current homophobic societies. M.U.D.
(Men Under Dirt) takes us on a journey deep
into a man's psyche that is filled with fears,
insecurities and passions that are pulsing to
erupt at any moment. This bold choreographic
work explores one man's dishonesty with himself.
Trapped in a loveless heterosexual marriage,
he still longs for the male lover from his past.
In his turmoil he discovers his "shadow
self" and a power struggle ensues between
the archetypes in his subconscious. (Please
be advised the performance does include male
nudity.)
John Ollom was reviewed as "one of today’s
most exciting choreographers" by David
Noh of the New York Blade.
Tickets can
also be purchased at the box office during
theater hours or
by calling
Brown Paper Tickets toll free at 1-800-838-3006.

Eating
Out: All you Can Eat
(Glenn Gaylord, 2009, USA 80 min), Get ready
to clean up the whole plate! This entirely
new story in the Eating Out collection offers
plenty of the over the top sex-romp rowdiness
that made the first two films into cult favorites,
along with a delightful dose of pure romance.
Rebekah Kochan returns as Tiffani, the infamous,
loveable, hysterical and funny “slut”
who attempts to help her geeky but very cute
friend Casey (Daniel Skelton) find true love
- or at least a sexy hunk. Taken under Tiffani’s
wing, Casey pretends to be Ryan, Tiffani's
hot, straight, stripper ex-boyfriend, in order
to seduce the smoldering Zack (Chris Salvatore)
online, which works, until the real Ryan shows
up! Only through some fancy footwork, advice
from his Aunt Helen (John Waters Cult Icon
Mink Stole) and mentor Harry (Emmy Award winning
Leslie Jordan, Sordid Lives, Will & Grace),
and a daring provocative sexual escapade can
Casey figure out how to set things right and
perhaps even find the love he’s been
seeking.
Eating Out 3 introduces six hot, openly gay
actors in lead roles including Daniel Skelton,
Chris Salvatore, Michael Walker, John C. Stallings
(The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency), Maximiliano
Torandell, and Rick D'Agostino. With Raw
Love( Martin Deus, Brazil, 2009 15min)
Two teenage friends shared everything but
now life will take them apart.
