The festival will present the first Vic Skolnick Community Service Award posthumously to Dr. Rev. Pastor Hibbs of Long Island Community Fellowship. The reception will be held in the Cinema’s Sky Room.

(Reed Cowan, USA, 2010, 80 min) A powerful, eye-opening documentary that focuses on the immense wealth and of the Mormon Church, and how the church uses the National Organization of Marriage to work for the denial of rights for GLBT Americans. It follows the money trail that ultimately ended up as a vicious campaign to pass the proposition in California. This not-to-be-missed film also touches on the effect of Mormon doctrine on GLBT Mormon youth which often ends up in abandonment, homelessness and suicide. (Donatella Maiorca, Italy, 2010, 105 min.) From the novel Minchia di Re by Giacomo Pilati comes a scandal hidden in 19th century Sicily between two young women, Angela and Sara. Angela isn’t like other girls her age, she fears nothing and nobody. She can’t hide her feelings for Sara. To maintain the forbidden relationship, she changes her outward appearance to disguise herself as a man. The chains that had imprisoned her existence suddenly disappear and she becomes powerful, but in her heart she never denies her identity as a woman.
