The Grove
(Andy Wilson, 2011, USA, 61 mins).
More Americans have been lost to AIDS than in all the U.S. wars since 1900. But few know of the existence of the National AIDS Memorial, a seven-acre grove and sanctuary hidden in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. “The Grove” shows how one community responded to its overwhelming grief, and how the seeds of a few visionaries blossomed into something larger and more provocative than they could have imagined. How do we mark a time of unimaginable loss? And what does it mean to be a national memorial.

Zoinx and 2 other lesbian space aliens enter the dating scene, while the Federal Agents, keeping their own guarded secrets, keep close tabs on their movements. This 2011 Sundance Film Festival selection is a hilarious romantic comedy filmed in early sci-fi style. Preceded by The Bus Pass (Narissa Lee (2010) USA 4 mins) A bus ride has one woman, who wants to approach another woman on the bus, but questions whether the other woman is gay or not. When he encounters Cesar, an openly gay student, Kevin’s heart starts to flutter for the young man, setting off a chain of events where his sexual identity comes into question and a weekend fueled by beers, straight porn and sexual frustration will lead to questions about which side of the fence some of these “longhorns” sit on. (Please be warned of adult content) with Bedfellows (Pierre Stefanos*, USA, 2008,16 min) Bobby meets Jonathan at the bar where he got his heart broken, will his one-night stand end up a nightmare or a fairy tale?
